Hunter Boots is a British footwear and apparel manufacturer best known for its rubber wellington boots. Originally established in 1856 as the North British Rubber Company, the firm is now focused on growing its UK presence, having launched its new ecommerce site with Shopify Plus in September 2023.
Since moving to Shopify Plus, Hunter Boots has seen:
- 923% increase in sales one month after launch
- 1000% increase in orders within three months of launch
- 19% increase in conversion rate
Challenge
As part of their relaunch into the UK, Hunter Boots required a new ecommerce website to modernise and evolve how they were reaching customers.
Previously, Hunter had been using an ecommerce platform that required lots of manual handling. An external team was dedicated to making changes to the pricing and design of the brand’s website and the platform lacked any integrated marketing tools.
With a growing team and new online store opening in 60 days, Hunter Boots needed a platform that was easier for their team to manage, update, and customise. They also needed the technology to streamline sales across multiple geographical locations, provide a great customer experience across different devices, and adapt quickly to market changes.
To relaunch the Hunter brand, we needed a platform that could offer flexibility and customisation, such as integrated marketing tools, to ensure the customer experience would be perfect across devices.
Solutions
Hunter Boots chose Shopify Plus for the platform's efficiency, speed, and adaptability thanks to its low and no-code functionality. In addition, Shopify's extensive app ecosystem also enabled Hunter Boots to quickly and easily deploy the solutions it needed, such as Klaviyo and Better Reports for marketing automation and data reports respectively.
Hunter was also keen to further integrate social media into their strategy to grow its connections with customers. Thanks to Shopify’s well-established partnerships with major social media platforms, Hunter was able to optimise its marketing channels, including the management of its social ecosystem.
The technology is really self explanatory for team members, enabling them to quickly change banners and pricing, update a product description or otherwise alter the site which saves time when we are not the biggest team. And with Shopify being integrated with so many different partners it makes our lives so much easier.
Results
With Shopify Plus partner Quickfire Digital, Hunter was able to set up its new online store in less than 60 days with all the payment portals, CRM, affiliate network, and plugins ready to go.
Since moving to Shopify Plus, and launching their new store in September, sales have increased by a staggering 923% compared to the first month of launch. Orders have increased by 1000% since launching the Hunter UK website and shopper conversion rate has increased by 19%.

Having just relaunched in the UK, Hunter is in the process of expanding into different regions including Sweden, France, Austria and Germany, with Shopify providing many essential tools to help Hunter Boots extend its reach, from local warehousing and multi-currency support to localisation and geotargeting that will allow Hunter to address new markets as it expands.
The team is also exploring Shopify Collabs, Shopify’s offering for connecting brands and content creators who want to turn their side hustles into a business.
