Memobottle is an Australian B-Corp lifestyle brand founded in 2014 by Jesse Leeworthy and Jonathan Byrt. Famous for its premium, slimline water bottles that fit in any bag, Memobottle marries iconic style with sustainability. From humble beginnings on Kickstarter, Memobottle has since grown to become a global business shipping to over 100 countries.
Challenge
Jesse and Jonathan never expected Memobotlle to turn into the overnight success it has become since its first kickstarter campaign launched. What started as an initial goal of reaching 500 backers quickly turned into 14,000 that would need products to be shipped to over seventy countries.
This came with serious global growth and fulfillment challenges, especially when the business invested in five warehouses globally that were servicing D2C and wholesale customers. The team needed a platform that would empower it to seamlessly manage international operations to effectively scale and reach more customers globally.
Solution
The first order of business for the Memobottle team was setting up expansion stores in strategic regions – Australia, United Kingdom, United States, Europe and the rest of the world.
To further simplify operations and provide extra value to customers, Memobottle used Shopify’s B2B module – exclusive to Shopify Plus – to create a streamlined experience for its network of wholesale customers. Retailers now have a dedicated space to log in, review previous or draft orders, check stock, and order in increments that align with Memobottle’s bulk shipping requirements.
Lastly, Jesse and Jonathan have derived valuable insights from the merchant success team which has supported them in their journey of international expansion. For example, they are now using Shopify Audiences outside Australia to provide Meta and Google with Shopify look-alike audiences, helping to attract more potential customers.
Results
The team has benefited immensely since upgrading to Shopify Plus. Expansion stores have empowered the Memobottle team to create local relevant content for customers in different regions. It’s also helped the company to integrate those stores with inventory management systems across the five warehouse locations.
The improved retailer experience is helping Memobottle attract new B2B sellers, which have now reached over 1200 worldwide.
