About the opportunity
Shopify is seeking several Senior Staff Applied ML Engineers & Data Scientists to work on extensive, data-intensive, and performance-sensitive graph systems. This is an opportunity to lead and architect critical system intended to power new use cases and be part of cutting edge innovation at Shopify.
This crucial role involves enhancing system scalability, reliability, and accuracy, and requires close collaboration across Machine Learning, Data Science, and Engineering teams to deliver advanced solutions.
To be a good fit, you should have the following:
Technical Requirements
Expertise in graph analysis and/or graph machine learning algorithms.
Experience in designing and managing large-scale data systems capable of handling millions of requests per second and managing datasets larger than 100 billion items.
Experience in software performance optimization.
Proficient in probabilistic algorithms and data structures.
Experience with ads targeting, recommendation systems, personalization, as well as experiment design and sampling on graphs.
Understanding of privacy and data protection laws and regulations.
Experience and Leadership Qualities:
Proven ability to manage complex technical projects successfully.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and engagement with various stakeholders.
Capability to navigate through ambiguous technical challenges and provide clear direction.
Experience in growing technical teams and mentoring engineers, contributing to their professional development and success.
