About the role
Please note: this is an individual contributor (IC) position and we would prefer for this role to be based in Singapore
About the Role
We are establishing a re-seller channel to work closely with experienced Partners in each market who are local experts and can represent us, communicate our value proposition to our merchants, and also help our merchants implement a local tech stack to suit their specific requirements. Further, such Partners will be managed and assisted through a merchant’s life cycle with Shopify.
Build and manage a sustainable funnel of seasoned partners entering our channel program in the Greater China Region.
Establish strong and sustained relationships with such channel partners across the funnel to build and service pipeline.
Enabling such partners and their large and diverse teams, on our platform’s commercial and technical capability, through 1:1 and 1:many initiatives.
Generating net new merchants referrals and revenue from such partners, by enabling their large sales and solutioning teams, and co-investing in GTM activities, marketing and other engagements.
Co-create and execute Joint Business Plans with each partner, to ensure merchant addition and GMV and revenue growth goals are met.
Using a combination of strong commercial acumen, a deep understanding of channel partnerships, as well as a good understanding of the Shopify platform, you will be responsible for building out this new channel with a focus on GCR.
This will be a hands on role where you will work with mature Partners with significant experience in re-selling software to also sell Shopify Plus in the GCR region.
You will be directly responsible for identifying and signing on the right strategic Partner in each market, and then enabling this Partner and their large GTM teams to generate target pipeline and revenue. All while collaborating cross functionally across the broader APAC and global teams.

YOU'LL NEED:
At least 6-8 years experience overall, with at least 3-4 years experience in partnerships oriented roles. Specific experience in managing resellers as a channel partner in large organisations is necessary. Prior experience as a Sales Account Executive is a bonus.
Experience working with scale strategic partners in China and an understanding of the complexities and diversity of the market. You have demonstrated success in collaborating with, negotiating and persuading a portfolio of channel partners, to drive desired outcomes. And you are also used to owning your craft and market in a global organisation.
To be action-oriented, and keen to roll up your sleeves and execute 0 to 1 initiatives, once new business models have been blueprinted, and new partners sourced. You are keen to pick up from a fellow team member and start building for the next level.
To be process-oriented, and able to single-handedly manage a moving set of initiatives across geos and partners, at various stages of their growth with Shopify
A background in partnerships. We’ll want to hear about your experiences managing different types of partners and about your impact enabling your partners to have success.
Proven experience in navigating complexity. You will have worked successfully in an environment of constant change, few rules and structures, and with rapidly rising expectations. You understand how to prioritise the ‘big rocks’ and are able to help your Partner team do the same.
Problem-solving skills and are data-driven. You come up with unique ways to solve problems, you’re able to connect the dots and nail down root causes for problems. You don’t easily take no for an answer and are effective in translating strategic directions into action.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a relentless attention to detail.
Knowledge of the ecommerce ecosystem; there are many moving parts and you need to understand how they all integrate and fit together.
Understanding of ecommerce best practices, industry trends, tech vendors, integrations, systems architecture etc.
Strong time management and prioritisation skills to manage multiple Partners and projects across China, with the ability to revisit and reprioritise periodically to deliver outcomes.

Experience working in large partner-first SaaS organisations, across multiple GTM functions, including Sales, Success and Marketing, apart from Partnerships
